Westwood College Helps Veterans Combat The Rising Costs Of College Tuition Through The Yellow Ribbon Program

Program Closes the Gap between VA Benefits and the Actual Cost of Most Colleges

DENVER, CO – Westwood College (www.westwood.edu) has chosen to partner with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program. The program greatly expands the number and variety of schools from which veterans can choose. Yellow Ribbon partners voluntarily enter into an agreement with the VA to pay for the difference in tuition expenses between what is covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the cost of the college they have chosen to attend.

“Westwood College is pleased to participate in a program that will make it easier for Post-9/11 veterans to pay for their college degrees,” said Norman Blome, Senior Vice President of Student Finance. “We can now offer veterans a chance to get their education closer to home or online at no or minimal cost.”

For veterans enrolled at a Yellow Ribbon participating school like Westwood, where tuition costs may exceed the tuition amount for in-state undergraduate tuition (the amount covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill), additional funds may be available for their education. Specifically, Westwood can contribute up to 50% of the tuition expenses that are in excess of the in-state tuition costs, and the VA will match the amount.

Qualified applicants may use the Yellow Ribbon benefit at any of Westwood’s 17 on-ground campuses or at Westwood College Online. While some institutions may limit the number of students who can take advantage of this option, Westwood allows all military personnel who are eligible to enroll. The specific amount available to veterans is determined by eligibility status, existing military educational entitlement, and the campus selected.
