Business relies heavily on information and network technologies across a wide range of services. In our Information Technology associate degree program we'll provide you with the skills required to design, install, configure and maintain network and technology infrastructures. You will be prepared to enter a variety of career fields and earn industry-relevant certifications.*

Program features include:

  • More than 60 percent of total contact hours delivered via hands-on lab training, preparing you for meaningful employment
  • A broad-based technology core program featuring key topics, like cloud computing essentials, operating systems, desktop hardware and server administration
  • Areas of emphasis that provide preparation for further specific certifications - you'll select one to incorporate into your program of study:
  • Westwood now offers a Cyber Security area of emphasis where students can earn industry-relevant certifications as they complete their core classes

Cisco and Microsoft Certification Preparation/Areas of Emphasis

Cisco Network Security
  • Plan, implement, upgrade or monitor security measures for the protection of computer networks and information
  • Ensure appropriate security controls are in place to safeguard digital files and vital electronic infrastructure
  • Respond to security breaches and viruses
Microsoft Systems Administration
  • Install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) and internet systems or a segment of a network system
  • Monitor a network to ensure network availability to all system users
  • Perform necessary maintenance to support network availability
  • Install, design, and configure highly available and scalable virtual infrastructures
  • Support, monitor and troubleshoot virtual environments, network storage and data, virtual machines, desktops and other operating systems
  • Work with private or public cloud environments, hypervisors, security and other applications providing various support services across an organization
Cyber Security
  • Gain skills in information security, firewall administration, network security, and virtual private networks, and learn how to detect and prevent cyber attacks
  • Protect Windows clients and servers from attack in a Windows-based network environment
  • Evaluate network vulnerabilities, plan network monitoring and security tools and apply strict security policies
