Surveying
Degree level:
Associate
Before any home, office building, store or even a sidewalk is built, the land needs to be surveyed.
An associate degree in surveying combines the skills of mapping with your love of being outdoors to provide you with great career opportunities. During the program, much of your time is spent outdoors doing field surveying, construction layouts, data collection and additional advanced survey projects that are required in the surveying profession. And all the while, you’ll be developing the math and field skills needed for surveying in the horizontal and vertical planes.
Our surveying program will also build your board drafting and computer-aided drafting (CAD) skills, which help you communicate the results of field projects and supplement the in-field classes you’ll be taking. Visits to survey project sites and other surveying-related facilities are also included in the coursework. Courses that give you knowledge about the public land surveying system, state plane coordinate systems and advanced surveying math calculations help round out your education so that when you graduate, you’ll have the skills to compete for a position in surveying, such as a survey technician, instrument man or rod man.
