ase_certificationWith a degree in automotive technology from Westwood College's Denver Campus, you can turn a hobby into a career. You'll work with your hands and learn to fix the vehicles we rely upon every day. A Westwood degree in automotive technology teaches you the essential skills for your career through hands-on classes and labs.Your courses will be modeled after the workplace, giving you the valuable experience you'll need as you enter this field.

Program features include:

  • training in the services and minor repairs that are required of an auto mechanic
  • engine and emission control operation
  • instruction in the effects of powertrain components on the performance of newer cars
  • a curriculum that has been evaluated by members of the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation and is designed to meet the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence standards

    Upon successful completion of the program, you will be able to:

    • Explain the procedures used to perform electrical circuit diagnosis
    • Diagnose and repair communication problems in an automotive computer network
    • Identify the cause of a problem based on the manufacturer's published procedures
    • Demonstrate the proper safety practices commonly used by auto mechanic professionals
    • Demonstrate the ability to remove and reinstall parts based on the manufacturer's published procedures

    *The list of SOC codes is based on Department of Education standards. Actual entry-level jobs for graduates in each program may vary from the list. The job code was pulled from IPEDS CIP-SOC crosswalk as of Sept. 10, 2012. Although the Department of Education requires all job titles to be listed, Westwood College has not found that all programs prepare graduates for all the jobs listed.
