Westwood College takes education forums to SIEGE expo

School recognized for its efforts and involvement at Game Expo

Atlanta, GA, September 29, 2010 – On August 31, 2010, the Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA) announced that Westwood College will sponsor both a college fair and professional tutorials at the 4th annual Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (SIEGE). The event will be held October 1 – 3, 2010, at the Crowne Plaza NW Atlanta hotel.

SIEGE focuses on the ever-expanding game design industry in the South. Currently in its fourth year, the Expo features numerous leading figures from a wide range of the industry, including programmers, artists, designers, writers, teachers and business executives. Highlights of Westwood’s professional tutorials will include sessions on game development for Windows 7, publishing of music on the Rock Band Network and Flash programming, among others. In addition, Nolan Bushnell, the creator of Pong and founder of Atari, will discuss the future of the gaming industry during the keynote address.

The college fair attracts schools like Westwood, Georgia Tech, Southern Methodist University’s Guildhall and more. Students get the chance to visit with school representatives as well as attend educational sessions on game development as a career. This year, Westwood has arranged for hundreds of high school students to attend and explore the many options for degrees in programming, game design, game art and other related fields. Westwood College is proud to support SIEGE and offer students an opportunity to gain valuable, first-hand knowledge of the gaming industry through this event.
