Houston, (Dec. 11, 2009) - Westwood College recently named David P. “Skip” Higley as president of its Houston South campus. With more than 30 years of experience in education, Higley has worked in a variety of nationally and regionally accredited institutions of higher learning including Sullivan College, The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Southern Ohio College, Ward Stone College, Computer Learning Centers, South University and Forefront Education.
“We are very pleased to welcome Skip to Westwood College and believe his contributions will lead the campus into an exciting new period of growth,” said Rick Skinner, Westwood College’s regional vice president. “His depth of experience in higher education is exceptional and will allow him to quickly contribute on many levels.”
Prior to joining Westwood College, Higley held positions of dean, school director, president, national director of operational compliance, national director of educational operations and senior vice president of operations. He holds a bachelor’s of arts degree in Psychology and a master of education and education specialist degrees in counselor education from the University of Florida.
“I am very excited about joining Westwood College and look forward to guiding the Houston South campus through its next phase of growth,” said Higley. “With enrollment in career colleges rising and the demands of the workforce constantly evolving, I think we have many great opportunities ahead of us.”
The Houston South campus was recognized by ACCSC as a 2006 School of Distinction, and it received the 2006 Superior Customer Service Award from the Greater Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce. The campus offers associate and/or bachelor’s degrees in design, technology, construction management, paralegal and healthcare.
