Denver, CO – Westwood College - Denver North Campus (www.westwood.edu) announced that it expanded its Cisco Networking Academy with an updated three-year bachelor’s program. Information Technology: Major in CISCO Network Systems now offers a specialized approach in advanced certifications taught by certified Cisco Network professionals. Other Cisco-related degree programs taught at Westwood College have seen 95 percent of graduates finding jobs in their field of study.
The new program offers intensive course work taught by industry professionals who know the skills that employers are looking for when they hire new workers. Students in the academy must be willing show commitment and work hard to learn both theory and practical skills.
“There is a high demand for this technology skill set, and students who graduate and find jobs in the field can expect higher than average salaries,” said Clay Chandler, Westwood IT instructor and national program advisor for the Cisco Networking Academy. “We are teaching students about how networks speak to each other, from small businesses to those used by Fortune 500 companies.”
The Westwood students in this program are taught the ins and outs of planning and putting together a networking system. They are also taught how to be more communicative with clients to better meet their needs.
Westwood College prides itself on its hands-on approach to learning, and it is a critical part of the Cisco program as well. In fact, students enrolled in the program during the 2008 Democratic National Convention are one of Westwood’s greatest examples of that philosophy. They were selected to put their skills to the test by helping install and support the vast communications infrastructure for the DNC when it was held in Denver. It was a unique opportunity to learn while doing – and doing during an historical occasion for the city.
Features of the new Cisco Networking Academy Program at Westwood College include:
- Preparation for both the Cisco Certified Network Associate and Cisco Certified Network Professional exams
- Courses that prepare students for industry standard certificates
- Classes provide training in operating systems that are used in more than two-thirds of companies worldwide
- Training in advanced networking techniques and security skills
The program is offered at Westwood College - Denver North Campus only. Find out more at /programs/school-of-technology/information-technology-major-in-ciscoreg-network-systems/.
