Westwood College and Redstone College Participate in Hill Day in Washington DC

Westwood College staff, faculty and students showed up to share their ideas and opinions for Hill Day 2010 in Washington DC, the annual Career College Association’s forum that deals with issues affecting the career college sector of higher education.

The March 8 – 10 event marked the first time students from career colleges were asked to attend and lend their first-hand insights and experiences to the issues facing career colleges. Six students from California and Virginia Westwood campuses attended the forums and participated in the meetings with congressional staffs.

Roxana Aguilar, who just graduated from the Anaheim Campus with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, characterized her participation in Hill Day as an experience of a lifetime as she shared the value she’s received from a career-focused, hands-on education with congressmen and women.

“Having the opportunity to sit and converse with the congressional staff was quite an experience,” Aguilar said. “While conversing with the staff, I made sure to emphasize my great appreciation for Westwood and the many resources they have available for their students, as well as how helpful the faculty and staff are.”
