Westwood College – Anaheim Campus - Visited by California State Assembly Member Jose Solorio

On Tuesday, September 28, 2010, California State Assembly Member, Jose Solorio visited the Westwood College Anaheim campus.

Mr. Solorio is the State Assembly’s representative from Central Orange County, including the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Santa Ana. His efforts to increase opportunities for all Californians spring forth from his personal story. Determined to improve his family’s standard of living, Solorio viewed education as the key to his future. He is an alumnus of the University of California-Irvine and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

During the visit, Mr. Solorio and his field representative Lorraine Lazarine-McCarty toured the campus and were introduced to students in several classrooms and hallways. While on tour, Mr. Solorio and Ms. Lazarine-McCarty commented positively about the physical facility and how impressed they were with all the student art and projects displayed throughout the campus. Mr. Solorio and Ms. Lazarine-McCarty observed students in our CJ Laboratory completing a crime scene investigation experiment and business students competing in a jeopardy game-based final exam review of term coursework. Mr. Solorio commented about “how exciting it must be for the students to experience all the hands-on activity and to participate in classes that make learning look fun.”

Near the end of his visit, M. Solorio volunteered to be a judge at any of our future Graphic Design events and indicated an interest in being a guest speaker at one of our upcoming graduation ceremonies. Mr. Solorio and Ms. Lazarine-McCarty expressed their appreciation of the visit and the education Westwood College provides to our students.
