Congresswoman Melissa Bean Visits Westwood O’Hare Campus

On April 26, Westwood College was proud to host Congresswoman Melissa Bean at the Chicago O’Hare campus. Congresswoman Bean has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 2004, representing Illinois's 8th congressional district.

Ed Frank, General Education adjunct faculty, arranged the visit for his American Government class. The Congresswoman spoke primarily about Veteran issues, giving students an inside look into the opportunities and challenges surrounding issues like medical disabilities, obtaining records and education benefit payments.

During her hour-long visit, the Congresswoman met with several Westwood students who are Veterans to discuss some of their specific concerns. She answered questions about the recent Arizona bill on immigrants, and other relevant topics. Westwood students were honored by her visit, and appreciated the personal conversation.

Thank you to Ed Frank and everyone at the O’Hare campus who participated.
