Westwood College doubles number of degrees offered in Dallas and Fort Worth; Now Offers Bachelor's Degrees
Denver, CO - Westwood College (www.westwood.edu) announced today it has doubled the amount of degree programs previously offered at its Dallas and Fort Worth campuses. As part of this, both campuses will provide two bachelor’s degree programs – a first for Westwood in Texas – and three new associate degree programs in some of the state’s most in-demand and employable industries such as network management, graphic design, hotel and restaurant management, paralegal and construction management. Classes for the new programs will begin on March 18, 2009.
New Bachelor’s and Associate Degrees Will Help Texas Students Secure Jobs in Growing Fields Like Information Technology and Graphic Design
Denver, CO (February 17, 2009) - Westwood College (www.westwood.edu) announced today it has doubled the amount of degree programs previously offered at its Dallas and Fort Worth campuses. As part of this, both campuses will provide two bachelor’s degree programs – a first for Westwood in Texas – and three new associate degree programs in some of the state’s most in-demand and employable industries such as network management, graphic design, hotel and restaurant management, paralegal and construction management. Classes for the new programs will begin on March 18, 2009.
The new Westwood offerings include:
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Information Technology: Major in Network Management (second in the state’s list of fastest growing occupations from 2006-2010)1
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Visual Communications
- Associate of Applied Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management
- Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal
- Associate of Applied Science degree in Construction Management
The degree offerings will help Westwood students successfully enter the workforce at a time when Texas unemployment rates have jumped to 6.0 percent -- a 43 percent increase since December 2007, with the state losing 25,700 jobs last month alone, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

With our high job placement rates of 81 percent at our Dallas campus and 86 percent at our Fort Worth campus within six months after graduation, we’ll help more Texans gain employment in high demand fields.”
