Matching Scholarship

Whether you’re a current student or still weighing your college options, Westwood College has a new scholarship opportunity. Beginning June 1, 2010, Westwood will match any third party scholarship a student earns, dollar for dollar, up to $1,100 per academic year,* and up to $5,500 in total matching funds for the life of a program.±

Billions of dollars in scholarship money is offered every year in the United States to help students pay for their college educations. The Westwood College Matching Scholarship Program was created to encourage students to take control of financing their educations, and actively seek out these third party scholarships.

How to obtain matching funds

  1. Submit your scholarship award letter and a copy of your scholarship application to your Westwood College student financing office
  2. The scholarship award letter must describe how and when the scholarship will be awarded;. i.e., upon enrollment, by academic year, by calendar year or on an alternative schedule

Requirements and guidelines

Westwood College will match any third party scholarship, awarded on or after June 1, 2010, providing the following criteria are met:

  • Scholarships funded by Westwood College, including Imagine America Foundation scholarships, CCST scholarships in Texas and CACCS scholarships in Colorado, are exempt from the Westwood Matching Scholarship program
  • Any benefits from current or past employment or contracts (e.g. tuition reimbursement) are exempt from the Westwood Matching Scholarship program
  • To receive matching funds you must be in good academic standing as described in the Westwood College catalog
  • You must be continuously enrolled full-time at Westwood College. Should you drop out, take a leave of absence, or graduate from your Westwood College program, the Westwood College Matching Scholarship will no longer be awarded to you.
  • Westwood College matching funds will be awarded by term. For example a $900 per academic year matching scholarship would be awarded at $300 per term.
  • The amount of the Westwood College Matching Scholarships will be added to your total income in calculating financial aid awards and may impact other loan elibility, or lower the amount of additional financial aid awards such as Pell grants

* An academic year equals 30 weeks (3 terms) and 36 credits. If the third party scholarship completely covers an academic year’s cost of attendance, the Westwood Matching Scholarship annual award will carry over to the following year.
