Westwood College of Aviation Technology changes name to Redstone College, Westwood Aviation Institute becomes Redstone Institute

New names preserve unique identity for aviation schools as Westwood College's non-aviation campuses, online programs grow

March 1, 2006 (Denver, Colo.) - Effective today, Westwood College of Aviation Technology campuses in Denver and Los Angeles are operating under new names: Redstone College - Denver, and Redstone College - Los Angeles. In addition, Westwood Aviation Institute in Houston begins operating as Redstone Institute - Houston. The new Redstone names deliver on Westwood's strategy to maintain and enhance the unique identity of the campuses that offer aviation programs.

Strong growth and expansion of Westwood College's 17 non-aviation campuses and its online programs prompted the change. "As Westwood College grows in enrollment, offerings, and visibility, the Redstone name helps set apart the campuses offering aviation programs and enhances their reputation as providers of quality, hands-on, industry-specific education," said Kirk Riedinger, chairman and co-founder of Westwood College and its parent company, Alta Colleges.

Riedinger added that the Redstone name also helps communicate a clearer overall identity for the campuses because it is not specific to one program. For example, the Redstone College campus in Denver offers HVAC-R programs. While no plans have been announced to add programs at the other Redstone campuses, the new name allows for potential growth of those campuses as well.

As the three campuses begin operating under the new Redstone name, there are no plans to change program content, schedules, faculty and staff, accreditation or anything else related to educational quality and delivery. "Our name has changed, but our commitment to providing quality, relevant aviation education has not. It remains as strong as ever," said Riedinger.

The Denver campus of Redstone College is located at 10851 West 120th Avenue in Broomfield, and the telephone number is 303-466-1714 or toll-free 1-800-281-2978. The campus offers diploma and associate degree programs in Airframe and Powerplant, Advanced Electronics Technology (Avionics), and HVAC-R (Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration). The campus is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).

The Los Angeles campus of Redstone College is located at 8911 Aviation Boulevard in Inglewood, and the telephone number is 310-337-4442 or toll-free 1-800-281-2978. Redstone Institute - Houston is located at 8880 Telephone Road, and the telephone number is 713-645-4444 or toll-free 1-800-281-2978. Both campuses offer a diploma program in Airframe and Powerplant, and both are accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE).
