Career College Association Recognizes Westwood College Instructor Todd Bell as Teacher of the Year
Denver, Colo. (May 17, 2007) - Passion, dedication and rave reviews from students are several of the reasons that Westwood College Criminal Justice instructor Todd Bell received the Teacher of the Year Award from the Career College Association (CCA). The CCA Awards program recognizes exceptional colleges, graduates and individuals who have worked tirelessly to further the cause of career colleges and universities. Bell will receive his award during the annual CCA convention and exposition, held June 13-15 at the New Orleans Marriott.
"Todd has a passion for teaching and it shows in everything he does," said Cathy Dropkin, director of education for Westwood's Anaheim campus. "In the two years he's taught here, he has proven his interest in helping students. Everything he does focuses on helping them launch their careers."
CCA's Teacher of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding educator whose dedication and contributions have greatly benefited the college and the students it serves. Nominees must demonstrate exceptional instructional ability, leadership, active professional interests, and proven accomplishments.
During his 15 years in law enforcement, Bell has a track record of going above and beyond to protect the communities he serves. His shift from a law enforcement officer to an instructor came from his desire to inspire people to achieve their goals. Bell has earned 4.9 out of 5 from student and course evaluations submitted by approximately 1,200 students-a 98 percent approval rating.
"Todd goes beyond teaching-he's a coach, mentor, counselor and motivator," said Dropkin. In addition to his teaching expertise, Bell also created the Criminal Justice Students Association, the Criminal Justice Honor Society and other programs on the Anaheim campus that help prepare student physically and mentally for a career in law enforcement and criminal justice.
